Context

Enterprise workflow changes succeed when they reduce real work friction. A new digital service is not automatically transformation; it has to change the way people complete work.

Problem

The work required connecting technology capability to a workflow change, then to adoption behavior, operational metrics, and business outcomes.

Users

  • Frontline and operational users.
  • Managers responsible for throughput and quality.
  • Technical partners maintaining the underlying systems.

Constraints

  • Adoption had to work across different levels of digital comfort.
  • Existing processes could not disappear overnight.
  • Metrics had to stay public-safe and de-identified.

Product Decision

Use an outcome tree to keep the transformation claim honest: capability, workflow change, adoption behavior, operational metric, and business outcome.

Tradeoffs

The team could optimize for speed of launch or depth of adoption. The better product decision was to make the adoption path explicit and measurable.

Outcome

The reusable lesson is that transformation should be measured through changed behavior, not just shipped technology.
